Last week, Mrs. Guerrero’s 3 year old preschool class learned about kindness and gratitude. They learned not only what it means but what it looks like. Queen of Martyrs is very excited to announce Coach Mike Rafalin as the new Head Football Coach of the Wildcats beginning in the Fall of 2024. Coach Rafalin graduated from St. Rita High School in 1978 and has coached for over 30 years on the southside of Chicago including 23 years at St. Bede and 7 years at St. Linus.
"Coach Rafalin's dedication to coaching and love of teaching the fundamentals of the game will help us establish and grow our program in the years to come. We are very blessed to have him join us," said Principal Stephen Davidson.
After a several year hiatus, Queen of Martyrs will form a football team for students in Grades 3-5 with the goal of adding JV and Varsity level teams in the next couple of years. The Athletic Board and newly named Football Coordinator Karen Principato have been hard at work in raising funds to purchase new equipment, ordering new helmets and uniforms, and putting plans in place for a coaching staff and schedule.
"I am very honored to have been chosen to help bring Queen of Martyrs Football back into the Southside Catholic Conference and return it to one of the top programs on the Southwest side. Go Wildcats!" said Coach Mike Rafalin.
Students must be in Grades 3-5 and be enrolled at Queen of Martyrs School or the St. Gianna Faith Formation (Religious Education Program) to participate.

NO SCHOOL TOMORROW ~ Teacher Professional Development Day!
As a school community yesterday, we began the Lenten Season by receiving ashes. Father Benedykt reminded our students of the importance of prayer, almsgiving, and making a personal sacrifice by giving up something during the 40 days of preparation for the Death and Resurrection of Christ. As part of our observance of Lent, each student will receive an almsgiving box to collect spare change to donate to those in need. We were called to "repent and believe in the Good News of the Gospel" as we begin our Lenten Journey.
Today marks the beginning of Lent...
