Principal's Newsletter: Week of October 7th
Happy Homecoming Week!
https://conta.cc/3BBp5gk
Join us on Sunday, October 20th to honor our First Responders and their families. This is always such a special way to show our support and prayers with our local heros!
See everyone on Sunday for our Homecoming Week Celebrations: QM Parade and Tailgate Party.
The day will begin with teams and families being invited to decorate their trucks and cars for our Parade through Mount Greenwood and Evergreen Park. Coffee and donuts will be provided in the St. Louis Parking Lot at 8:30 on Sunday, October 6th. Teams and families are encouraged to decorate their cars and trucks for the parade with window paints, balloons, and streamers (navy blue, light blue and white).
At 10:30am, all families are welcome to join us for a special family Mass. This is our Mass of Enrollment for the Holy Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation for our 2nd and 8th Grade.
After Mass, decorated cars and trucks will line up for the neighborhood parade. We leave the St Louis Parking Lot at Noon and return back for the tailgate. A traditional tailgate and celebration will be held in the lot immediately after the Parade. Families should bring their own lawn chairs, snacks, coolers, drinks, bean bags, food, etc.
Nicky V’s food truck will be available for families to purchase food. The FSA will also have a Jump House and Happy Jacks available for snow cones, cotton candy and airbrushed tattoos.
The Bears game will be shown with a projector and pop up screen as well. We look forward to a great QM family celebration!
Homecoming Week is next week! We look forward to a great week of celebrating our Queen of Martyrs Wildcats!
Thank you to the Tom "Papa Hops " Hopkins Foundation for their generosity and support in helping to bring Queen of Martyrs Football back to the Southwest Side. Our Wildcats love the new sled!
On Wednesday night, Coach Rafalin and the QM football team shared a little gift of our appreciation for the Hopkins family and their support in honor of their father, Tom Hopkins QM Class of 1969. Thank you for all you do for so many on the southside, @papahops!
Our Preschool and Kindergarten classes had a great day at the Children's Farm in Palos yesterday. They loved learning about all the animals, going on a hayride, and picking a pumpkin to bring home to their families!
The School Advisory Board was established last year to act as a liaison between the school’s administration (our principal and pastor), our current school families, and the broader parish and local communities.
This year we would like to add one more member to our 6 current members. Each is selected by the pastor and principal with input and/or nominations from the school community.
If you would like to nominate a school parent or parishioner for the SAB, please send an email to Mr. Davidson with a letter of recommendation. The letter of recommendation should explain why your nominee would be a great board member who will help promote and advance the Catholic mission of Queen of Martyrs School. Please visit the School Advisory Board website for additional information.

Mrs. Gagner’s 1st Grade Class started to learn about sound as part of our new phenomena- based science curriculum.
Students learned about how some instruments vibrate to create sounds and experimented with tuning forks. By hitting them on their desks, students were able to feel the vibration and hear the sound. Students compared the sounds and vibrations made by smaller tuning forks as well to talk about the differences.

We love to hear from our Wildcat Alumni and celebrate the tremendous successes and milestones that our QM Alumni experience in their lives.
In 2024-2025, we will highlight a QM alum each month in an Alumni Spotlight.
Our September 2024 Alumni Spotlight is Deuce McGuire '18. Check out some of his favorite memories that he shared with Principal Davidson.
